Any house music aficionado is likely familiar with Defected Records. The UK label has been a leader in the genre since its beginnings, with a penchant for signing on acts that would later rise to the top of their field. A few notable talents who’ve taken up a spot on the imprint’s fabled discography include CamelPhat, Bob Sinclair, MK, Dennis Ferrer, and Roger Sanchez.
Defected has now reached its 20th birthday—a feat unachieved by most in its arena, made even more rare by the fact that it remains as strong a force in dance music as it had when starting out two decades ago. To make the occasion, the label is taking a lengthy world tour, including a run of dates stateside. Riva Starr and blossoming label star Ferreck Dawn will be heading the tour, which stops in Washington, DC, LA, San Francisco, and Chicago through the end of November.
